20 Weeks

YOU HAVE OFFICIALLY MADE IT TO THE HALF WAY MARK! Can you believe it? Just 20 more weeks (give or take) and your baby will be here!

Baby In Action at 20 Weeks

If you are wondering what baby’s gender is, now is a good time to find out!  Although your baby’s external genitals are still growing it is around this time that an ultrasound can determine if you are expecting a boy or a girl. An ultrasound will also give you a good look at baby’s heart, kidney’s, and brain. You might even catch your little thumb sucker in action.

Baby Size at 20 Weeks

Your sweet baby is now the size of a banana. There is still a lot of growing to be done but for now your little guy is approximately 10 ounces and 6.5 inches long.

Your Body at 20 Weeks

Congratulations you’ve made it to the half way point of your pregnancy! Here are some things you can look forward to this week:

  • Hair and Nail growth. Those pregnancy hormones can make your nails extra strong and your hair extra thick.

  • High Energy. Enjoy it now because by the next trimester you will probably be back to being tired again.

  • Your belly button becomes an outie. Not to worry, it will go back to normal after you deliver your baby.

  • Increased Hunger. This has been mentioned a couple of times but the more baby grow’s so does your appetite.

20 Week To-Do-List

-Now that you have hit the half way mark, it may be time to start thinking about taking a birth class. We highly recommend “Birth It Up”. It was created by a labor and delivery nurse who is also a mother. You can read the full class details and all it covers here.

-If you found out the gender of your baby at your 20 week anatomy scan, you can start planning our babies nursery and adding more gender specific items to your baby registry. If you need some suggestions on the best baby items, you can check out our suggestions here.
