The Best lactation smoothie to boost milk supply and curb sugar cravings!

Protein Shake for Breastfeeding Mamas

There are many struggles that come with breastfeeding, but keeping up your milk supply is at the top of the list for so many mamas (including me, read all about that here). There are many supplements you can take to increase and maintain your supply, but there are few that can also act as a meal for mamas. So we’ve put together a breastfeeding protein smoothie that will not only give you 15 grams of protein, an boost of energy, lactation support as well as a curb sugar cravings!

The protein powder used is Milk Dust. Milk Dust was created by Katie Pickett, who also created the Postpartum Cure, a weight loss program catered to new mamas. Here’s a little insight as to the ingredients and why they were selected:

“In creating Milk Dust, I handpicked specific vitamins like folate (L-methylfolate), which is as important during lactation as it is during pregnancy. I also chose vitamin B12 for energy, and superfoods like chlorella, spirulina, spinach, and blueberries. To help mamas combat sugar cravings, I included stevia, monk fruit and organic cane juice so mamas can enjoy the sweetness with very little sugar. Plus, herbs like turmeric and cinnamon bark, and minerals like chromium, balance blood sugar and taste delicious. It’s like drinking a milkshake! To top it off, Milk Dust is plant-based, vegan, made of non-GMO ingredients and is free of soy, gluten, dairy, and corn.”

I’m sure you can see why I knew this had to be one of the items I added to my arsenal of high milk supply supplements. And protein shakes like the recipe below are just the tip of the ice burg. There are so many other recipes you can create using Milk Dust.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Scoop of Milk Dust Protein Powder (you can find it here on their website)
  • 3/4 cup yogurt (I love the Two Good brand, only 2 grams of sugar!)
  • 3/4 milk of choice
  • Frozen fruit of choice (I opted for Strawberries and it mixed so well with the flavor of the protein powder and vanilla yogurt!)

If you look up any lactation recipes, Brewers Yeast is always a staple item. Fenugreek capsule are also a great supplement to take daily to increase and maintain supply. So the fact that you can find this and more in just one scoop of protein powder is awesome.
