Delicious Chocolate Chip Lactation Muffins

I am a sucker for a good chocolate chip muffin. Add in all the ingredients needed to keep my milk supply up and I might very well be having muffins for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

This recipe is an easy modification to our very popular Blueberry Lactation Muffins. We simply swapped out the blueberries for chocolate chips. If you are not a fan of either of these, you could skip them altogether and have a plain muffin that would still be very effective in boosting your milk supply.

How do these muffins help boost my supply?

This recipe includes galactagogues. Galactagogues are shown to help support and increase milk supply in breastfeeding mothers. The two galactagogues in this recipe are Brewer’s Yeast and FlaxSeed. Both are available on Amazon.

A little of these ingredients goes a long way and can really make a difference in your milk supply. You can read more about the other supplements I use to keep my milk supply up here.

Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Lactation Muffins

-1 c. oatmeal (I prefer rolled for this recipe when baking muffins. It creates a smoother consistency)

-1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

-2/3 c.brown sugar, packed

-1 tsp baking powder

-1 tsp baking soda

-1/4 tsp salt (skip if using salted butter)

-2 tbsp ground flaxseed

-2 tbsp Brewers Yeast

-1 tbsp vanilla extract

-1/2 c. Greek Yogurt (non-flavored)

-1/2 c. milk (I do 2% cows milk, however, you can sub with your choice)

-4 tbsp melted butter, unsalted (if you have salted, that’s ok, simply skip adding additional salt as the recipe calls for)

-2 large eggs, lightly beaten

-1 c. mini chocolate chips (you can decrease this if you are watching your sugar content. I also love Lily’s Sugar-Free Chocolate chips for this recipe. A little pricey, but worth it and delicious!)

Directions for Chocolate Chip Lactation Muffins

-Heat oven to 350°. Grease of line Muffin Pan

-Combine oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, flaxseed, baking powder, baking soda, salt and Brewers Yeast into a large mixing bowl and mix well.

-In a separate bowl, mix Greek yogurt, eggs, melted butter, & vanilla extract

-Slowly add wet mixture to dry mixture, stirring gently to combine

-Add in the chocolate chips

-Add muffin batter to muffin time, fill about 3/4 of the way

-Bake 20-25 min (use a toothpick to test! Insert it into the middle of the muffins and if it comes out clean, they are fully cooked!)
