Anti-Nausea Smoothie to Fight Off Morning Sickness

There is so much joy and excitement during the first trimester of pregnancy, but sometimes it can be interrupted by pesky morning sickness. For some of us, it may even last all day! This smoothie is filled with ingredients to help get rid of morning sickness!

Why it Works

There are many ingredients in this smoothie that contribute to its ability to knock out nausea. Greet Yogurt is filled with probiotics to help keep nausea at bay.

The oats are jam-packed with protein and any pregnant mama knows that morning sickness seems to really kick in when you are hungry. The oats will help keep your hunger at away and the nausea as well.

Ginger is notoriously known for being a natural remedy for nausea. In “2005 report from Obstetrics and Gynecologyanalyzed six clinical trials (with a total of 675 participants) and found that ginger was superior to a placebo and similar to vitamin B6 in relieving nausea and vomiting during pregnancy” (source).

How to Make a “No More Morning Sickness” Smoothie:

Ingredients:

-6 Strawberries

-1 banana

-1/2 Cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt ( I LOVE the Two Good brand- only 2 grams of sugar!)

-2 tbsp of grated or finely chopped ginger

-1/2 cup Milk of Choice

-1/2 Cup Oatmeal (quick oats preferred)

Add all of your ingredients to a blender and combine.

A side note regarding your ginger root. Chances are, you have a large piece of root on hand and this recipe only calls for a small amount. The best way to store your ginger for future use is to place it in a ziplock baggie with the air removed and place it in a crisper drawer in your refrigerator. It will keep longer if it is left unpeeled.
